Tips on Staying Organized at Home
Share
Need help staying organized while at home? Here are some quick tips on how to stay organized. Whether you are a small business owner, student or working remotely from your office job these useful tips will help you stay motivated and focused throughout your day.
1) Move your body in the AM
After you get up, brush your teeth & wash your face to gently wake you up. After that, head outside for a 15 minute walk with your pup, partner or just yourself. Take this time to either listen to nothing - just the outside world, a podcast or a favorite song. Moving your body is one of the best things to do in the morning and it doesn't need to be intense.
If it's too cold by you, do a morning workout from Yoga, Barre or Pilates. While I love Peloton, one of my favorite free apps is FitOn!
2) Brain Dump
Before you start your day, do a quick brain dump of ALL the things that are popping into your head. Grab your favorite notepad, notebook or paper to jot down all those to-do's. Once you see what you have to do, prioritize in order what you must accomplish that day. While everything is or can be seen as important, it's essential to really focus on the Top 3 goals that are going to move your day forward. Need an inspirational, light notepad? 3) Time block Your Day
Once you have your Top 3 To-do's, schedule them in! Use your google calendar or phone to keep yourself on track. Give yourself enough time to accomplish these and don't be hard on yourself if you aren't able to get through everything! Done is better than perfect!
4) Take Breaks
We NEED to take more breaks. If you have a habit of working through the day without moving then I highly encourage you schedule your breaks. You know your schedule best, so schedule mini breaks throughout your day if you're unable to fully take a "lunch" break. Take 5 minute breaks here and there and walk around. If you're able to take a lunch break, head outside to give yourself a mental refresh! I try to take breaks in the midday with my dog and we head to our local park. It's a time where I don't check my emails or Instagram - I listen to a podcast or a book! This is a special time to give yourself a B-R-E-A-K!
5) Recap your day
This is something I've been adding to my days and it's just recapping my day. It's to remind me of WHAT I accomplished (not what I forgot to do). As you go through your to-do list, remind yourself of the Top 3 things you were able to do or almost fully accomplish - bonus if you got to some extra! Again the idea is to really focus on the good and not the bad.
I hope these helpful tips are encouraging and helpful for you to implement. This is to keep you motivated and focused throughout your day!
